"The Devil's Message"

[ Back to Article Titles Page ]  [ Back to Home Page ]

Normally, I like to begin my articles with a verse of scripture, but I didn't want there to be any chance of anyone associating the inspired, infallible Word of God with the title of this article.  The Lord has put this little article upon my heart and it is my prayer that many people will read it and see how that the devil has so polluted the gospel of Christ in this world.

Recently, I was at the hospital visiting a relative and my wife and I were in the cafeteria with our daughter.  While we were in there, there was a song playing over the loud speaker.  Normally, I try my best to block out any kind of stuff like that because it is usually not very good.  This was no exception as to it's worth, but I couldn't block it out.  I believe that the Lord wanted me to hear this as it was the perfect example of the message the devil has been getting out all through the years.  I don't know the title of the song, nor who wrote it, nor who was singing it.  Neither of these are important as far as the writing of this article goes.  I didn't really get all the words to the verse of the song, but the chorus came through loud and clear and I shall never forget what it said.  The gist of the verse dealt with a man or young person who had an automobile accident wherein his girlfriend died.  Then when the chorus started it said, "Where oh where could my baby be?  The Lord took her away from me.  She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good.  So I can see my baby when I leave this world."

Friends, these words have rung in my ears ever since I heard them and I cannot tell you how they have troubled my heart.  This is absolutely without a doubt, the devil's message and I don't care from who's mouth this message is uttered or where it is found written, it is still from and of the devil.  Ever since the Lord Jesus came to this earth, the devil has tried to disprove His authority and His authenticity and even after Christ had successfully laid down His life upon that Roman cross for the sins of man, the devil tried to prevent Him from leaving that grave.  The devil did fail in all his attempts to stop Christ from fulfilling His mission here upon the earth, but he has succeeded many times in polluting the gospel message that is being heard.  The message that was proclaimed in the song has infiltrated just about every aspect of our society today.  Not long ago, I wrote an article dealing with a sign which read, "The road to heaven, turn right and go straight".  That was the very same message with just slightly different wording.  Through the grace and mercy of God, that sign has been changed to read, "Don't be caught dead without Jesus".  There that song was being played in a hospital of all places where people are dying every day.  That message however so disguised is being preached and believed in churches all over  and I said it before and I will say it again, I don't care where this message is being broadcast from, it is from and of the devil.

The poor man who wrote this song, unless he has gotten saved, which I doubt very seriously he has, is either lost and on his way to hell or he is lost and in hell.  The reason I say that I doubt that he has gotten saved is because if he had really and truly gotten saved, he would do all that he could to get that song and that message out of circulation.  The same thing goes for the man who was singing that song if it was not the same man.  Now, some may say that they don't see any real harm in that song and that they don't see how I could say that these people or this person is lost just because they or he would write or sing such a song.  Friends, there is something deadly harmful in that song and I'm speaking of an eternal deadly.  And how I can say that they or he is lost is because God's Word says so.  If that person or persons is trusting in anything other than the shed blood of Jesus Christ for salvation, they are lost.  The sad thing is that our churches and our Christian schools and our seminaries are all chocked full of lost people trusting in being good enough to get to heaven.  These people (all these people) are LOST.

I was at the hospital at another time recently, visiting someone else and I heard a woman, when talking about being saved, say, "I got baptized when I was 12 years old".  The very same woman when talking about her preacher not coming to visit her in the hospital, said, "He has a lot of other people he needs to save".  Friends, people will believe in just about anything to get them to heaven.  They will trust in their being good enough.  They will trust in joining a church or getting baptized.  They will trust in some preacher to get them to heaven.  They will trust in the righteousness of Grandma or some other relative.  I have even heard of some thinking they are a Christian on the basis of their being an American.  Is it any wonder that the world is in the shape it's in today?

The devil has done a pretty thorough job of getting his message out and it's time the real Christians of this world woke up and did the job the Lord has left us here to do.  That job is not to go to church on Sunday and say to the world, "Look at me, ain't I pretty?".  It's time we as His unworthy servants got out there and called the devil the liar that he is.  It's time we told the lost people of this world the real truth and nothing but the truth.

I would hope that everyone who would read this article has truly accepted Jesus Christ as their personal saviour, and if you have, God bless you, we have work to do, but I am assuming nothing.  If you have not truly accepted Him, please read the real truth.  In the beginning, God created everything there is and everything was perfect.  Then sin entered into the world through Adam and his wife Eve.  Ever since that time, all mankind has been born into sin.  This makes everyone a sinner.  That everyone means me and it means you.  We are all sinners.  We're born that way.  The Bible says it clearly, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;".  Romans 3:23.  Now that pretty much covers everybody.  Now that we know straight from God's Word that we are all guilty of sin where does that leave us?  The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Romans 6:23.  Now that tells us that our sin debt must be paid for with death, but that same verse goes on to tell us that God through His infinite grace and mercy has offered us eternal life through Jesus Christ.  How are we to obtain this wonderful free gift of salvation?  Again, straight from God's own Word, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."  Romans 10:9.  Now who all is it that qualifies for this free gift?  The Bible makes this clear also, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  Romans 10:13.  Friend, that whosoever is you and it's me.  That, my friend, is the good news, or the gospel of Christ and it has never lost it's power.  If you have never trusted in the shed blood of Jesus Christ as payment in full for your sins, I beg of you to wait no longer.  If you believe what I have just told you, that you are a sinner and that the penalty for that sin is death and that God loved you so much that while you were yet a sinner, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for your sins and that He raised Him from the dead, if you believe that with all your ability to believe, then please get down on your knees right now and say, "God have mercy on me, a sinner."  Confess with your mouth that you believe that Christ died for your sins and ask Him to save you and to send Jesus into your heart and life right now.  If you did that and you truly believe, then He has saved you and there is absolutely no other person or thing that you will depend upon for salvation.  Absolutely nothing!  Now you too will have work you will want to do and that is to spread this gospel to those around you.  God bless you!
