"The Broad Way"

1. Has no limitations: Imagine there were no speed limits. We would surely be going around killing ourselves. Imagine there was no law against robbery. There wouldn't be much use in working for a living, because all that we earned would be somebody else's for the taking. The people who have no limitations must be bound by the law or else we could not exist.
2. Has no sense of direction: Imagine being out in the middle of the ocean and you can't see land no matter which way you look. You could go in any direction you wanted, not knowing where it was leading you. For all you know, you could be going around in a big circle and that ocean would be all that you ever saw. Before eventually you would just perish.
3. Is the popular way: Everybody's doing it. If it feels good, do it. Just a couple of the cliches used by those who are going the broad way.
4. Is the path of least resistance: There is a false peace, because everybody likes you. Nobody opposes the way you live, because they don't feel threatened by you. You are just part of the crowd.
5. Is the road to death and destruction: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. For the wages of sin is death.
"The Narrow Way"
1. Has limitations: Those in the narrow way are not bound by the law, but are bound by love that is in Christ Jesus. If I set out to run a marathon (26.2 miles), and I really desire to finish the course, I'm not going to take off running as fast as I can, because I would surely run out of energy before the end. I would have to pace myself or set limitations for myself or else the running I did would be in vain. In every aspect of life, there has to be limitations or else failure.
2. Has direction: The destiny is sure, the course is carefully plotted, the heart and mind are set on the journey and the direction comes from the Lord. The focus is upon Him and where He is leading us. No wavering or wandering, just trusting. Just watching and praying.
3. Is not popular: If everybody is doing it, it's probably not the right way to go. If we are in the narrow way, we will stick out like a sore thumb and not very many will want to join us.
4. Causes resistance: People will be offended and will even hate us if we have chosen the path that the Lord has charted for us. If everybody likes us and we haven't an enemy in the world, we should examine our path.
5. Is the path that leads to life everlasting: God's way may not be the easy way, but it will be the right way. "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
