"No Room for Jesus"

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16. Today is December the fifth and the time is fast approaching when we will be celebrating the birth of our wonderful Lord and Saviour, or will we? As I have been driving up and down the road lately, I have been noticing the usual signs of the season and it about breaks my heart to see signs such as Merry Xmas and others advertising trees they so un-affectionately call Xmas trees. Indeed, as it usually is, people are Xing out the very one who is the reason we celebrate. Not only that, but they are Xing out the very one they this world needs the most. Truly, my dear friends, this is very sad, but hopefully, all those signs were erected by the lost and dying world who do not know Jesus. In the book of Luke we read, "And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7. It is so sad, but about two thousand years ago the Saviour of the world was born and immediately, the world had no room nor made no room for Him. Such an ungrateful world we live in, but I too was once like that and I can understand their ignorance. I only wish I could help them to see that the one they reject is the one they need so much.
Just yesterday, I was talking with a lady who claims to be a Christian and this lady said to me, "Are you ready for Christmas?". Immediately, my reply was, "I'm always ready for Christmas." There was another lady present and the first lady then said, "I just can't seem to get in the mood for Christmas." And then she asked the other lady if she was ready. The other lady said that she was having a new roof put on her trailer and that she couldn't decorate. She went on to say, "I guess we're just scrooges. Well, this conversation was getting pretty sad to me and I said, "Why don't you try to remember who's Birthday we are celebrating." Then the first lady who claims to be a Christian pointed to a pin on her sweater and said, "I've got it right here." She had a pin on that read, "Jesus is the reason for the season." Now, that was quite noble of her to have Jesus on her sweater, but it would be much more precious to have Him in her heart. I then reached into my pocket and handed those two ladies a tract and said, "Give this to someone for Christmas." Christmas should not be a mood that we get in. About two thousand years ago, I don't know the exact date, because the Word of God never once gives us a date for the birth of Jesus, but whatever the date, God Himself, who created this world and everything in it, came down here to this earth in the form of a little tiny baby. He did this because we needed a Saviour. The very second God was born, He became the Saviour of the world and the world had no room for Him. The Jews were His chosen people and thereby, they were His own, and yet, they too had no room for Him as the Bible tells us, "He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not." John 1:11 There you have the world who knew Him not who had and have today no room for Him. He also came unto His own and they received Him not. They had nor have no room for Him. Friends, these are two very sad facts, but there are many people right now, today, who claim to have received Him who have no room for Him. This makes three of the saddest facts known to man, but there is one that is even sadder.
I heard a lady also yesterday speaking to some other ladies. She was telling those ladies that she had gone to church the day before and the preacher was saying that there were a lot of people taking the name of the Lord in vain. She went on to say that he explained that when they said things like, "Oh Lord" and "Jesus", they were taking the name of the Lord in vain and they would be punished for it on judgment day. This lady told the other ladies in that group that she had said such things, not ever meaning any harm. Then she said, "I guess we'll find a way somehow." I waited and thought about this situation until those ladies separated and I went to the one who was talking and told her that I had some good news for her. I told he that I had heard her conversation and that I saw how repentant she was of taking the name of the Lord in vain. I told her that her preacher was right when he said that to say those things was taking the name of the Lord in vain, but that she would not be punished for it if she would just ask the Lord for forgiveness. Then I told her that my Bible says, "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." James 4:17. Then I went on to tell her that she didn't know what she was doing when she took the name of the Lord in vain and therefore she did it out of ignorance. Then I handed this lady a tract of God's simple plan of salvation and told her that the main thing for her to be very sure of was that she had Jesus Christ in her heart and life. I told her that once a person is sure that they have Jesus Christ in their heart and life, they should strive to get two verses if scripture into their heart and the rest of the Bible would be revealed to them as needed. She asked me what those two verses were and I quoted Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
Now, I told you all that to tell you all this. Not one time did that lady mention her preacher mentioning Jesus Christ and His shed blood. I have a dear friend who has been preaching the gospel of Christ since September the 17th of 1932 and it has been reported that he has preached more sermons than any other preacher ever. He has accounts of preaching over 67,000 sermons and that is ten times what the average preacher preaches in his lifetime. This friend of mine has won countless thousands of souls to the Lord and one of them just happens to be mine. This preacher friend of mine has probably won more souls to the Lord in hotels than most preachers have won in pulpits. What's his secret? Well, it is no secret. In those over 67,000 sermons, not one time did he fail to proclaim Jesus Christ and His shed blood for the remission of sins. The secret that is no secret is that not only does he have room for Jesus, but he has Jesus. Now, this man has no problem getting in the mood for Christmas nor does he have to get ready for Christmas.
I have no way of knowing who all will be reading this little article, but it's contents apply to everyone who may read it. If you my dear friend have not yet experienced that saving grace that was brought down to man in the form of Jesus Christ, do you have room for Him in your heart or will you reject Him and die in your sins and spend an eternity in hell? Why don't you except this free gift right now and ask Him to save you and welcome Him into your heart and life. I can guarantee you that if you do this will be your greatest Christmas ever. It's so simple that it's hard to believe, but believing is what makes it all possible. Just confess to God that you are a lost sinner and tell Him you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose the third day giving you victory over death and hell. Ask Him to forgive you and to send Jesus into your heart and life. Now, if you are a true born again Christian, Jesus has already come to dwell within you. Have you room for Him? It's almost the time when we celebrate the birth of our risen Saviour, but have you told someone else about Him? Have the lights of the Christmas tree overshadowed the true light that radiates from within you? Do you have to get in some sort of mood for Christmas or do you have to get ready for Christmas. If so, you are Xing Him out just like the world and I beg of you to come out from among them. Please make room for Jesus. And if you are a preacher, called by God to preach and proclaim the gospel of His only begotten Son, how many sermons have you preached in this last year wherein you failed to preach Jesus Christ? If that answer is one or more, you need to make room for Jesus. Now you can preach your convictions all you like when you get to heaven because there, no one will be lost, but please never presume that everyone in your congregation is saved and knows the way. It would be so terrible to get to heaven and to have some poor lost sinner condemned to hell, look you in the face and say, "Preacher _______, you never told me about Jesus and all that I had to do was to trust in His shed blood." Please don't X Him out, for there are souls to be saved.
And to all who may read this little article, may God most richly bless you this Christmas and throughout the time we have remaining.
