"Lifetime Limited Warranty"
[ Back to Article Titles Page ] [ Back to Home Page ]
In this little article, I wish to tell you about two very dear, very important friends of mine. The idea of how to tell of the first friend, I got from reading a book which my second friend wrote. It is my desire and my prayer that this little article will be a real blessing to all who read it and that it will serve as a life changing experience to many.
You know, I've never completely understood the claim you see on so many products which boast of a "Lifetime Limited Warranty". Whose lifetime are they talking about anyway? Are they talking about the lifetime of the product? Are they talking about the lifetime of the person selling the product? Or are they talking about the lifetime of the person purchasing the product? And what does limited mean? Does anyone really trust such a vague statement as that? Especially since the products that boast of such a warranty usually cost twice as much as those without such a claim.
What if I told you that I could offer you something that would last forever and that it would supply your every need and that it would bring you perfect peace and that it would give you real joy and that it would give you security like you couldn't get anywhere else? What if I told you that this thing that I offered you came with a never ending unlimited warranty? What if I told you that I could offer it to you absolutely free? Would you not jump at the chance to take advantage of this most wonderful offer?
Well, I can't offer you such a deal, but I work for someone who can. The one who can is the first friend of mine that I would like to tell you about. His name is Jesus Christ and He has been offering this deal for about two thousand years now. What He offers absolutely free to all who will accept it is called Salvation which is forgiveness of sins. Without it, no one will ever have perfect peace. Oh, they may have moments without stress, but they will never have peace like only He can give. Without this Salvation, no one will ever have real joy. Oh, they may experience happiness from time to time, but happiness which the world can offer, like the world, will not last. Without this Salvation, no one can really feel secure. Oh, they to a point, trust in their bank account or in the shelter of their homes or in the protection of their police departments and so on, but when all these things begin to fail, which they surely will, there will be no security. Without this absolutely free gift, all will die in their sins and spend eternity in hell. Have you accepted this offer? If not, why not now? Nothing this world has to offer can compare and there is no other source than trusting in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. If you will just believe on Him, He will forgive you of every sin you have ever committed and He will be your friend too. And to top it all off, you can work for Him too.
Now, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, I'm sure you will want to hear about my second friend. This friend is also my partner, in that we work for the same Saviour. This very dear friend of mine is J. Harold Smith. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart and life on a Sunday afternoon on September the 4th in 1932 and ever since has been a real soldier of the Cross. He has served the Lord fervently ever since the Lord saved him. I will say more about this great man of God just a little later.
I heard a news story once about a young college student in New York who was so burdened by the sight of all the homeless people he saw that he set aside $50.00 from his budget and went out and bought bread and peanut butter with it. He made sandwiches out of all that bread and peanut butter he had bought and he took them out to the streets and fed many of the homeless people he had seen there. Now, if the Government had tried to feed those same people, the cost would have been staggering. The would first have to set up a shelter where to feed those people. Then they would have to hire a bunch of people to oversee the distribution of the food. Then they would have to have people to do background checks on all those who came in to receive the food. I think you get the point.
Then, I heard a report where a study was done on all those people who claim to be feeding the hungry in all those impoverished countries. The report stated that an average of 10 cents out of every dollar taken in was actually spent on food received by the hungry. The rest was wasted in one way or another.
Now, back to my friend, J. Harold Smith. As I said, this man has been serving the Lord since September of 1932. In all those years, he has preached the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to more people than anyone I know of or have ever heard of. He is one of the few preachers who has preached the Word of God without compromise. In December of 1935, he started the ministry which is now called the Radio Bible Hour where he preaches seven days a week to a land area populated by 3/5ths of the world's population. His preaching is today, the same as it was back in 1935 and that is simply because the gospel doesn't change. Men today need the same Saviour as the men of 1935. Now, this man has probably won more souls to the Lord than anyone alive today and quite possibly more than anyone ever. This great man is at the time of the writing of this article, 84 years and 7 months old and he still travels all over preaching the Word of God with just one difference. The difference is that since 1975, he has not accepted a penny for his preaching. All the money taken in from his preaching goes directly to the Radio Bible Hour to be used to do even more preaching. Records show that for every $44.00 taken in by the Radio Bible Hour, for the past eleven years, they have been able to lead one precious soul to the Lord. Now, I don't know worth you place on a soul, but this is one soul who is forever grateful that somebody cared enough to send $44.00. You see, this great man of God led me to the Lord on a Friday the 13th night in November of 1992. I could pay every dime I make for the rest of my life here on this earth and I could never repay that $44.00, but when that dear person goes on to meet the Lord, He will surely repay them. Friends, I shudder to think that there is some poor soul out there somewhere who would die and go to hell because I had $44.00 in my pocket or bank account that I wouldn't turn loose of. I rejoice in knowing that the Lord has so blessed me as to be able to help such a great servant as J. Harold Smith continue the work of Jesus Christ Himself. I believe with all my heart that it won't be very long at all til we all go home to be with Him and wouldn't it be so wonderful to stand before Him, quite possibly beside this my second friend and surely before my first friend, and to hear Him say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over few and now I will make you ruler over many". It is my most humble prayer that after reading this article, you too will be led of the Lord to continue His work as He came not in this world to condemn the world, but to seek and to save. Think about it.
