"How Shall We Escape?"

 Hurricane Opal sat out in the Gulf, threatening death and destruction to all who would be in it's path.  But what was it's path?  Many made predictions, but no one knew for sure.  Meanwhile, people all along the coastline watched and waited, but no one made any serious preparations.  Opal continued to gain strength and finally it seemed that the massive storm had set a course.  It looked as though Opal would hit land in the Pensacola, Florida area.

Finally, people began to make preparations and an evacuation was ordered.  But wait, most people hadn't even gassed up their cars and as they all, it seemed, flocked to the gas stations, there was a gas shortage.  It soon became too late and too dangerous for people to try and get out.

The newspaper reported that an estimated 15,000 people sought refuge in 42 emergency centers.  It also stated that several shelters reported food shortages as in one such shelter, there were 900 people in a building designed to hold 500.  It was reported that people along the Florida Panhandle and Alabama were preparing to face the wrath of mother nature.

Friends, there is no such thing as mother nature.  This powerful storm which has now hit the Florida coast and Alabama truly was very powerful and indeed caused much damage and killed at least two people.  But friend, this storm, though it very well could have been a portion of the wrath of God, was just a drop in the bucket when compared to His wrath that will be poured out on this world.

Men have had the warning of this coming wrath for a lot longer than those of Opal and yet very few in comparison are making preparations.  With this wrath, there is absolutely no question as to where it will hit.  As with Opal however, only those who prepare for evacuation will be spared the death and destruction.

The evacuation plan has already been laid out and it is so simple that even a little child can understand it.  That simple plan my friend, is simply trust in the blood of Jesus Christ that He shed upon a cross at Calvary.  Now, there are those who will try and tell you that it takes more than that, but they are wrong.  I realize that it sounds too easy, but not just everybody can do it.  It is so very true that this plan is offered to all who will accept it, but only to those who will seek it.

You see, everyone is capable of believing that Jesus Christ is.  But faith is a gift of God and only achievable to those who will ask for it.  Have you accepted this so precious gift?  If you have, then your evacuation preparations have already been made and there is no need to fear the wrath of what men call mother nature, for God is in complete control of it all and no harm will come to you unless He allows it.

But friend, if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and are not trusting in Him and Him alone for salvation, the wrath will surely come and when it does, there will be no chance of evacuation.  Unlike those in Florida and Alabama though, there will be none who will escape with their life.  Death will be very real and very certain.  But even worse than that, it will be very eternal.  This death that I speak of is the eternal death in the lake of fire which is hell, where there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Purposely, I have made this little article short and to the point.  There are only two choices and only one of them is the right one.  There will be no weatherman to predict the time of this imminent wrath.  Today is the appointed time of salvation.  If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, I beg of you, do it now, without delay.
